THE LEADERSHIP LENS
Leadership is defined not only by actions and behaviors, but also by the vision and values that guide decision-making. In this session, participants explore the relationship between values, vision, and organizational success, and discover how values driven leadership creates long-term impact.
Using The Leadership Lens, participants learn how Disney leaders make decisions through a consistent set of core values while adapting their vision to meet the evolving needs of the future.
THE FOUR ELEMENTS OF GREAT LEADERSHIP / SELF-REFLECTION
Participants explore the Four Elements of Great Leadership, examining the behaviors that determine whether leadership succeeds or falls short: passive vs. proactive, inconsistent vs. intentional, misaligned vs. aligned, and exclusive vs. inclusive. Through practical examples and guided self-reflection, participants assess their own leadership style and identify opportunities for growth.
ACTIVITY: STRENGTHS & OPPORTUNITIES
Participants complete a self-assessment to identify their key strengths and opportunities for growth, sharing their reflections with a partner before engaging in a group discussion. They then select four priority areas to intentionally develop throughout their leadership journey.
The People Behind the Magic explores how values are the enduring beliefs and principles that guide leaders and their organizations. Participants examine the difference between passive and proactive leadership, learning how effective leaders intentionally establish, communicate, and reinforce values to shape culture and drive long-term success.

The People Behind the Magic team briefly recaps the morning lessons, discussing key elements that will lead to the portion of the program.
A LEADER'S VISION
One of the crucial tasks of a leader is to establish a vision for the future. A vision should describe who you want to become in the long term, which requires inspiring concepts and messages. will have time to start creating their vision.
ACTIVITY: QUACK CORP LLC
The participants become employees of the fictitious company Quack Corp. As new hires, they learn how the organization’s structure relates to business outcomes and how culture dictates employee behavior. Through this activity, participants understand why it is important for leaders to communicate the vision and how a well-designed structure and culture help ensure clear communication and employee ownership.
HUMAN RESOURCES INFUSED WITH VALUES.
To operationalize the alignment of values, it is essential to hire the people who will intentionally bring your company's values to life. The People Behind the Magic shares that at Disney, we have specific language in our job postings infused with Disney's values and vision. Examples of our job ads are shared.
WHY SHOULD ORGANIZATIONAL PROCESSES BE INFUSED WITH VALUES?
When processes are not aligned with the organization's values and vision, arises. This resistance can hinder the advancement of your vision. Participants dedicate time to developing ideas on how they can act differently as leaders to reinforce processes that embody the company's.
SUSTAINABILITY OF VALUES AND VISION
The People Behind the Magic explains how the decline of an organization's values can happen very gradually and subtly. Participants learn that great leaders do not rest on their laurels. Values must be continuously communicated reinforced. Participants take time to think about what they can do to uphold the values and vision of their company.
THE LEGACY OF YOUR LEADERSHIP
The leaders at Disney recognize that the values and behaviors demonstrated in daily life will be remembered longer than their achievements. Participants begin to reflect on what their leadership legacy could be.
ACTIVITY: FLIP-CHART EXERCISE OF THE LEARNING EVENT.
The participants work together in groups to share their ideas and create action steps.
CLOSING AND FINALIZATION OF THE LEARNING EVENT ACTIVITY: IDENTIFY YOUR PERSONAL VALUES.
Participants are asked to identify the values that are important to them as leaders. They are then invited to identify their own personal values, write about, and discuss why chose these specific values. Participants are then invited to assess their daily behavior. Is their behavior consistent or inconsistent with their personal values? Why or why not?
